Make it better

4 Oct

Many of you have heard about Dan Savage’s “It Gets Better” Project, which is a video project telling LGBT youth to have faith that their lives can get better.  We’ve written about the importance of shared stories and how they can have an effect on someone who is having a hard time.  Dan’s project encourages people who’s lives have gotten better to share their struggle in the hope that someone watching might find encouragement.

Enter the Make It Better Project.  The Gay-Straight Alliance Network has launched this new project to take it a step further and empower LGBT youth and allies to actively change their communities.

The extremely well designed website has a toolkit and resources for students and adults to prevent bullying and teen suicides.

The organization is also planning a week of action, using a wonderfully integrated online-offline strategy, to coincide with National Coming Out day on Oct, 11.

Check out their website, plan an action, and share your story.  We CAN make it better!
