California 7th Grader Takes on Bullies

14 Oct

13 year-old Marco Melgoza has had his head slammed into the pavement and been called anti-gay names for a long time now. And with the media surge in gay teen suicides, Marco has decided to take to the streets in front of his school. The purpose of the protest is to educate and encourage parents to get involved. He also would like to see kids who are getting bullied, speaking up.

His father has joined him walking the sidewalk outside Desmond Middle School – wouldn’t it be great if some of our friends in California joined him in his protest? His parents have been very supportive of his work and are glad that Marco is their son. Check out the report from ABC 30.

It’s always so exciting to see new young leaders. No permission is needed to start leading, just the will to change something.
