Obama Says “It Gets Better”

22 Oct

On the heels of some unpopular decisions and for a community that sees him as not living up to the “Fierce Advocate” label he gave himself during the campaign, President Obama has taken a step forward by addressing anti-gay bullying in this “It Gets Better” video.

He may not be the superhero we all hoped he would be, but it’s encouraging to see him addressing this vital issue…and he’s even wearing a purple tie.

Wow, I’m sold. He’s so caring and convincing with his concern for gay Americans. It almost doesn’t matter that his justice department is fighting a court ruling declaring Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell unconstitutional. Or that he believes that gay people don’t deserve the right to get married (I guess that part of “all of us are equal and each of us deserves the freedom to pursue our own version of happiness” was in reference to something else.)

“Fierce advocate?” Are you effin kidding me?

This is all a ploy to get your votes. This video is “unlisted” on the official white house site. That means that unless you knot the direct link, u will never findbthis video. Another lie Obama. We had faith in you.

Thank you President Obama for addressing such a critical issue. I am now 22 years old, but to be honest, as a child I was not so sure I would make it to this day. Constantly being teased and bullied, fighting of other students daily that were trying to beat me up around my elementary school, all I wanted was to end my life. I am so glad I was never able to go through with those thoughts. I am now very happy being a young gay American, and it truly does get better.

Its about time. I guess Hillary must have inspired him to speak up as well.

Interested- he tells LGBT youth that they didnt do anything wrong- well why does that change when you become a tax payer and get second class treatment in the US?

Thanks for sharing all this! I think the more we talk about these issues the better and the more likely we’ll get our equal rights.

President Obama has a lot on his plate, so it does feel good that he took the time to make this. It’s the best lit one out there!
