Anti-Gay Hate Group Uses Penn State Tragedy to Raise Money

Peter LaBarbera

Anti-Gay Hate Group, “Americans for Truth About Homosexuality” led by Peter LaBarbera has been a factory for lies and hatred of LGBT people for several years now. The lies perpetuated by LaBarbera have crossed the line of “offensive” and jumped straight into “crazy.” His obsession with gay pornography has earned him the popular nickname “Porno Pete,” and his unwavering dedication to spreading untruth and bile about the LGBT community is second-to-none.

But this evening, he has done something so hateful, so hurtful and outright malicious that I hope anyone observing will see the anti-gay movement for what it truly is.

In the past few days, a horrific story has come out of Penn State where an assistant football coach has been accused of molesting and raping several young boys. Even upon being observed raping a 10-year old boy in the school’s locker room, the accused was protected by the football coach, athletics directors and school administration. As if this was not bad enough, upon the firing of the football coach over these accusations, hundreds of Penn State students have abandoned any moral fiber within and taken to the streets to defend the coach who knowingly let these acts slide.

When these stories are being reported, it’s hard not to feel ill just thinking about what these children went through and how the defense of these people who covered up the atrocities must feel like they are being violated all over again.

This is all quite bad enough to deal with, but now that Peter LaBarbera has started reporting the story, he is not only using these horrific allegations to spread further lies about gay people, but he is trying to raise money off it as well.

When reading the words posted on his site, all of which have been debunked by the American Psychological Association, American Psychiatric Association and every reputable medical association in the country, one cannot help but notice the enormous “DONATE HERE” button glaring on the right side of the story.

Some in this country still don’t believe in marriage equality, and I can understand that and work at having a coherent and respectful discussion about it. But this kind of propaganda and fear mongering, and the use of this horrible tragedy to raise money for your organization is simply beyond the pale.

The spreading of lies and hatred is one thing, but to try to make a quick buck off the story of these children is easily the worst thing I’ve seen in the modern anti-gay movement. LaBarbera should be ashamed. Please see the screen cap below to see what can be found on LaBarbera’s Hate Group’s website. Additionally, an email was sent to the organization’s list which featured the Penn State story followed by the following:

That’s a synonymous of an asshole, I am always surprised and revolted to find how hurtful people like Porno Pete can be, I can tell one truth about Porno Pete he is a loser who doesn’t have a life and people like him on a long term never win.

It looks like the jig is up for YOU assholes. I’m a heterosexual adult adoptee who has wanted gay adoption ILLEGAL for a long time. I am already talking to attorneys to get all the laws that let you users hurt innocent children’s sexual identities, when our identities are already damaged due to adoption itself, REPEALED and the despicable events at Penn State will be my catalyst. None of you gays care about the infants or children you adopt. You adopt to get back at straight people who do not support you and you adopt to fulfill your disgusting agenda outlined in the gay poem from hell Peter has on his website for all the world to see. You know the one. Where homosexual men vow to seduce boys and make them gay. The one that is proof that you vipers have been hiding in every aspect of life where children live. The church, the boy scouts, the lockerooms, the day care centers. the video game halls and now adoption and foster care. There is no hell bad enough for all you perverts and your lies, your excuses, your crocodile tears. And I am going to make damn sure you will suffer hell on earth first, before your rot forever in another realm. Ditto for the lesbians like Georgia Tann who was also an adoptee abuser..From all of us adoptees worldwide. FUCK YOU.

Wow, it must suck to be this angry all the time.

Georgia Tann was sick….but just like today’s adoption “professionals,” she thought she was doing something great by taking children away from their real parents.

Thank you for your feedback, to the above poster. It’s nice to know that adoptees are standing up for their rights. Hopefully one day you can move on a bit from the abuse of your adoption. And all adoptions are an abuse…

Gays should NOT have kids! My father was gay. It is not rainbows and parades. It is used enemas and soiled bedsheets.

Don’t give your kids up for adoption! Rosie O’Donnell may get them!

Wow, you are so very backwards. You and the previous poster. I am sorry you had a bad experience with an adoptive family, but just as I’m not going to blame all heterosexual adoptive parents for THIS STORY, you cannot blame all gay people on your experience.

Adoption is not abuse. You are wrong. Adoption is what puts most kids in loving homes, far away from birth parents who could never rightfully take care of them.

I’m sorry you are filled with so much hatred towards people you clearly know zero about, but I recommend you let some of that go. We are going to continue adopting children who need forever homes and we are going to continue cleaning up after straight people who have kids by accident and throw them away. When was the last time you met a gay couple who had a kid by accident and wasn’t responsible enough to take care of them?

Hi I need to reach Jamie McGonnigal. How can I reach you? Can I send you an email?

You know, I hadn’t even considered the possibility of anti-gay attitudes as they relate to the Penn State tragedy. Anyone want to know why? Because I’ve been too busy wondering how those poor boys must feel, and too busy being disgusted at college students rioting over FOOTBALL. This is a new low, even for hate groups. Absolutely disgusting, but thank you for a well-written article.
